“Dr. Op” Haus galerii 22.01-01.03.2013
TIME is a notion that has accompanied us for ages. Millions, even billions of years have passed since the emergence of the world. Such long time periods are often incomprehensible for a layman; neither is it known what exactly happened during that time. When we talk about one million years or ten million years, it is difficult for us to perceive the vast difference between those time units. However, the shorter the time units become, the more clearly we are able to perceive time. Such notions as century, year, month and week are relatively understandable for us and on a daily basis we use such notions as hour and minute. We count seconds less often and fractions of seconds are only followed at sports events. A field where fractions of seconds are routinely used is photography. Half a second, a tenth of a second and even a hundredth of a second are relatively long periods of time for photographers, as milliseconds are commonly used. In our case, we are talking about time periods of approximately 1/45 000 seconds.WATER, just like TIME, is an inseparable part of our lives. Similarly to time, water is also in constant movement. The idea of combining moving water drops and short exposure times has produced the works of the exhibition “Dr. Op”. The name refers both to the word drop as well as to Op Art. The various water figures are like sculptures, which can be freely interpreted according to one’s imagination. The water sculptures on the exhibition have been named after their resemblance to real life objects. The changes and processes that take place during extremely short time periods are often left unnoticed. In our daily lives, we often glide through short moments, paying attention only to changes that have occurred during long periods of time. With the exhibition, I invite you to notice more the changes around us that happen in short instances.                                                                                       Ammustest aegadest peale on meid saatnud mõiste AEG. Maailma tekkimisest kuni tänaseni on möödunud miljonid, isegi miljardid aastad. Valdkond, kus sekundite murdosad on igapäevases kasutuses, on fotograafia. Op“. Pealkiri viitab nii veetilgale (ingl. k. "drop") kui ka op-kunstile. Erinevad veest tekkinud kujundid on nagu skulptuurid, millele võib igaüks oma fantaasiast lähtudes nime leida. Näitusel väljas olevad veeskulptuurid on oma nime saanud  sarnasusega reaalses elus eksisteerivate nähtuste ja tegelastega.Ülilühikestes ajavahemikes toimuvad muutused ja protsessid jäävad tihtipeale kahjuks meile märkamatuks. Igapäevases kiires elus libiseme lühikestest hetkedest üle, märgates vaid muutusi, mis toimuvad pikkade ajavahemike jooksul. Kutsun teid koos näitusega rohkem tähele panema lühikestes hetkedes toimuvat meie ümber.

“Patarei” Tam Galerii 01.04-03.05.2009
The works displayed in the exhibition were created for a photo contest on the Patarei Prison organised by the Ministry of Justice in 2005.In addition to the available light, a light painting technique is used in taking the pictures. This means that during a long exposure, the object is partially lit by a torch. The Central Prison aka Patarei Prison is a seaside building complex at Kalaranna 2, Tallinn, which has been used as a prison for several decades, but was initially a sea fortress.Patarei is a unique architectural monument, completed in 1840 by the order of czar Nicholas I. With the development of military techniques, the fortress lost its protective value and it then accommodated barracks for soldiers. In 1919, Patarei became a prison. With its two-meter walls, Patarei suited perfectly for that purpose. In 2002, the Ministry of Justice decided to close the prison.
